Ms. Somyung Kim

Somyung Kim graduated from Keimyung University with a Bachelor of Economics in South Korea. As a university student, she participated in an international student exchange program with Georgia Southern University and an internship program with Hilton Hotel in Daytona, Florida. She shared her ESL abilities while teaching English to Korean students in Korea. Once she moved to America permanently, she grew her career in Finance with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and Capital One Auto Finance. She specialized in business risk management, compliance and auditing for 13 years and was recognized as the best employee several times. She realized her passion for education in world languages and cultivating global talent and found various opportunities to teach Korean in Korean Schools and Dallas ISD. 

Since a new Korean course was offered in Townview in 2021, she has sought to find the opportunities for her students to follow their passion in life, while she connects with people not only in DISD, but also with Dallas College, the Korean Education Center of Korean Embassy in Houston, the Ministry of Education of Korea, and the Office of Education in Daegu, Korea. Through virtual meetings, she has established the relationship for international communication and cultural exchange between Sangsuh Middle and High school students majoring in culinary art, bakery, entertainment, beauty design and tourism in Korea and Townview students.
